A very wise man once described Calculus as "the study of derivatives and integrals". Intimidated yet? This is not a class for the weak of heart... or math skills. Calculus is considered a high powered algebra, but with so much new vocabulary it will remind you of the good old days learning all those new words for Geometry. Luckily, Omniac Education is here to help with any and all Calculus problems. Our tutors actually look forward to working with Calculus students since they usually just need help making sense of all of the new vocabulary and organizing all of the shortcuts. Our tutors excelled in their advanced math classes and are happy to share secrets for success at such an advanced level.
Never Needed Tutoring Before?
Most of our calls for Calculus come from students that never needed help before. The first thing to remember is that this is a college class! It is supposed to be hard! After your initial grade shock is over consider how the class is structured. After a brief review of pre-calculus (I hope you were paying attention!) you learn new vocabulary including limits, derivatives, and differential elements and you combine that with some of your favorites from geometry including slope and tangent lines. You are also taking this class with the top students in your high school.
The Good News
One of the big secrets of success is practicing. For most calculus students math has come easy for the previous 12 years and little (if any) real practice was needed. Our tutors can help you figure out how to work through problems on your own without having that "I'm stuck!" feeling at the beginning of every problem you face. We know this subject is tough. Thats why we want to help.
