The December 11th ACT is right around the corner, and students all over Albuquerque are gearing up for it. But studying for the ACT presents certain challenges that studying for a regular test does not. The fact that most students won't have been previously exposed to the test and that they will likely have to significantly alter the way the take this test will mean that their normal studying methods may not get them completely where they'd like to be. And since where a student studies will keenly impact how he or she studies, we have a list of five great places to study for the ACT outside of the student's home or school.
The Frontier has several things that makes it a great place to study. It's located near the main UNM campus and is open 20 hours a day, so it will fit almost any schedule. It also is an extremely popular meeting place for both high school and college students which give it a very low-key, low-pressure, social environment.
The coffee shop is almost ubiquitous as a college hang-out and study spot. And for good reason. There's almost one on every corner, they're usually open pretty late, and an abundance of caffeine means that few students will nod off into their books. All of these combine to make a great place for several students to get together to prep for the ACT and also get their coffee on.
3. A Public Park
An unconventional choice, for sure, but a good one nonetheless. Parks provides a peaceful environment without the crowds of restaurants or coffee shops. Bring your favourite snack and beverage and the only thing stopping a park from being the perfect study place is the possibility of bad weather. Because even though a brave man likes the feel of nature on his face, a wise man has enough sense to get in out of the rain.
It may seem a little clichéd to study in a library, but clichés are clichés for a reason. Libraries are calm, peaceful places that promote an academic atmosphere. Combine that with a plethora of reference material and internet access and there are very few places that give you more tools to rock this test.
5. The Omniac Offices
If you want to prepare for the ACT, there is literally no better place to do so than the Omniac Education offices. On the corner of Candelaria and Carlisle, we have a central location and are committed to adjusting our schedules to meet the needs of all of our students, so the office is available at almost any time, night or day. And what really makes the office the perfect place to study of the ACT is the combination of our knowledgeable staff and expert tutors. From the moment they walk through the doors, every student knows that we'll stop at nothing to make them as ready as they can possibly be come test day.
